Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Perform field testing, observation, and assessment of roofing and building enclosure systems and components. Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor’s representatives and others, as applicable, regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and assessment/inspection requirements and results. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas. Assist Project Managers and other facilities professional staff with other Facilities related assessment and testing projects. Adhere to strict safety standards..
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Performs roofing and building enclosure testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures/standards.
- Provides clear documentation of findings and results in written format.
- Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
- Communicates information to Project Manager, Clients, and other personnel as directed by the PM and assists with project management.
- Experienced and proficient in multiple areas of field testing and inspection (i.e. fenestration testing, Moisture Probing, Leak Detection, Electronic Field Vector Mapping, Infrared Thermography, Electrical Impedance Scanning).
- Directs, trains, and supervises activities of other engineering technicians in the field.
- Assists Project Manager in development of proposals, pre-task planning, scope for testing, and inspection services.
- Maintains equipment and company vehicle operation, inspection, and calibration.
- Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Is responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
- Experience with laptop computer and tablet (iPad preferred) use and Microsoft Word and Excel
- Relevant certification for the services or project requirements (e.g. Registered Roofing Observer (RRO))
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Certifications in one or more of the following areas:
- Suspended Scaffold Certification and Aerial Work Platform Certification
- Obtain Registered Roof Observer (RRO) Certification within 6 months of hiring date.
- Obtain Certified Infrared Thermographer (CIT) Level I within 12 months of hiring date.
