Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Facilitate collaboration and deliver GIS support throughout all service areas. Perform tasks such as collecting, managing, analyzing, and visualizing data to support projects and organizational initiatives. Select appropriate data sources and methodologies, develop efficient workflows, and generate maps, exhibits, and models tailored to project requirements. Support field data collection by implementing tools that ensure data accuracy and the inclusion of relevant attributes. Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date geospatial datasets for all projects, along with thorough documentation and metadata. Ensure all GIS deliverables are of the highest quality and adhere to established company standards.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
• Design and automate GIS workflows using advanced programming techniques.
• Review and optimize GIS processes to improve efficiency and performance.
• Create and maintain GIS maps and exhibits for project applications and reports.
• Perform quality control checks on all GIS deliverables.
• Develop and manage project-specific GIS databases.
• Research, compile, and validate spatial data from public and proprietary sources.
• Create, edit, and convert spatial data to meet project requirements and ensure compatibility across software platforms.
• Conduct spatial data analysis and computations using various tools, scripts, and software applications.
• Assess project GIS needs and provide informed recommendations.
• Assist with implementing relational database management systems.
• Support development of web and mobile GIS applications.
• Introduce AI-driven tools into GIS workflows to automate data processing and enhance spatial analysis.
• Apply quality assurance practices and adhere to standard operating procedures.
• Prepare technical documentation and metadata for all GIS work products.
• Mentor and supervise GIS team members as needed.
• Strong communication skills for conveying technical information clearly to users of varying skill levels
• Follow all safety rules, guidelines, and standards; participate in pre-task planning and report safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain high-quality standards across all projects.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, engineering, computer science or related field with a minimum of 4 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years’ related experience.
• Experience with ArcGIS Desktop and extensions, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, ArcGIS mobile applications, MS Office, AutoCAD, 3D Design Software, FME, and open-source applications.
• Familiarity with relational databases and various programming languages (e.g. Python, C#, JavaScript).
• Candidates with solid AutoCAD and FME experience are preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
