Job Description
We have a unique and exciting new opportunity supporting our large clients, primarily in the digital infrastructure space! One where you get to combine your program management, technical and client experience skills while working from the location of your choice.
In this new role, you will assist in the continued development of a new national geotechnical engineering program within the largest geotechnical consulting firm in the US. We have an immediate need for another innovative member of our rapidly growing, national program to manage large geotechnical engineering projects for Terracon’s largest clients. You will work along-side our top consultants in this space, leveraging Terracon’s competitive advantages such as Stage1, Pivvot and Compass to deliver an unprecedented client experience. This role is for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and in a variety of geological settings, as projects are located nationwide.
Working within Terracon’s Central Engineering and Delivery (CE&D) Team you will collaborate with other local engineers and Subject Matter Experts in our national network of 170 offices to meet aggressive needs of great clients. Your work will focus on the consistent delivery of projects, assisting local offices in the application of innovative methods in site characterization, data visualization, and collaborative engineering for clients who must have such qualities to accomplish ambitious projects. You will work within Terracon’s Project Management Organization (PMO), assisting in the geotechnical engineering aspects of resource management, project scheduling, and budgets and forecasts. You will conduct meetings with the clients and prepare reports to communicate the status of projects to the project team and client. You will set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
Curiosity is key to this role. You will be asking questions to learn our client’s approach to site selection, design and construction and to learn from Terracon’s local experts in our offices where the projects are being executed. You will also work with the CE&D team to discover, develop and deploy innovative ways to get work done.
Technical aspects of this role may include
- Provide consistent quality standards on proposal and project delivery.
- Proficient engineering professional responsible for managing and executing small projects of minimal complexity.
- Assist in developing the scope of work for routine projects.
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, and other project related documents.
- Analyze data, and perform engineering calculations and analysis for PE review.
- Conduct, coordinate or supervise field investigations, laboratory testing, and evaluation of respective data.
- Develop plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work.
- Work closely with senior-level project manager and Professional Engineer of Record to gain project management and engineering experience.
- Makes design recommendations, adaptations and modifications for review and consideration by the Professional Engineer of Record.
- Prepares work scope, proposals and reports and plans investigations for approval by senior level professionals.
- May supervise field staff including graduate/field engineers, engineering technicians, exploration teams, laboratory staff and other support personnel.
- Interacts with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress.
- Works under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Demonstrate quality practices and acumen.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 1-3 years’ experience.
- Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) required.
