Job Description
General Responsibilities:
The Project Accountant (PA) position is responsible for all financial aspects of the projects contract and financial management. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring accurate contract documentation, contract monitoring and contract administration throughout various stages of a contract life cycle. This position requires a team player who works well with members of the project team as well as various levels of management to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and Terracon’s policies and procedures. This position is critical in delivering accurate project performance data and resolving financial issues.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all aspects of the weekly project accountant processing including, but not limited to, entering data, running processes and auditing reports.
  • Ensure all projects are completely registered with necessary information in the project accounting system.
  • Ensure all contracts, purchase orders, work orders or notice to proceed documents are fully executed and filed in an organized manner within the electronic project folders.
  • Work with Billing Support, Government Compliance, and/or project staff on client invoicing, collections management, and assist with invoicing, coding A/P, time sheet review, and expense report review.
  • Communicate project status as compared to expected project performance along with all unapproved work and unanticipated risk to the Manager of Operational Finance.
  • Responsible for confirming that miscellaneous charges, project transfers, and timesheet adjustments are entered into the job cost system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum 5 years’ related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of project accounting area
  • Strong accuracy with data entry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and general computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
