Terracon is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support our growing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Practice in Winter Park, Florida. This role would also support natural and cultural resources projects in the Central and South Florida market. This role includes project management duties of client development, preparing proposals and cost estimates to clients to ensure proper scoping of services, plan for and participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities and build and maintain client relationships.
This role also includes preparing NEPA documentation, agency consultations, and management of a portfolio of NEPA projects. This role also includes providing project support for ecological and natural resource field surveys such as wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species assessments/surveys, tree inventories, and other ecological studies as necessary. This position requires the management of small, medium, and large-scale NEPA projects, ecological projects, conducting field work, preparing scientific reports, training more inexperienced staff members, and conducting various business development activities.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the management and completion of NEPA projects across multiple lead agencies.
- Responsible for preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
- With support from the Department/Office manager perform business and client development activities to expand NEPA services.
- With support from the Department/Office Manager develop and manage employee staffing plans, recruitment, selection and on-boarding as the practice are grows.
- With support from the Department/Office Manager prepare and execute annual business plan for the specialty service group.
- With support from the Department/Office Manager oversee and manage the success of the key group metrics of revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
- Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.
- Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
- Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
- Conduct wetland delineation, listed species assessments, and tree inventories in support of multi-disciplinary projects.
- Prepare and submit permit application for Environmental Resource Permits, USACE permits, county permits, and conduct listed species consultations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Archaeology, Historic Preservation, Environmental Science or closely related science field and a minimum of 9 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years’ related experience.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Some overnight travel and flexibility in work schedule may be required.
- Ability to work in various climates and terrain for extended periods of time.
- Expert knowledge of Florida’s ecosystems, flora, and fauna.
- Experience preparing and managing Environmental Resource Permit (ERP) applications and United State Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Section 404/10 permit applications.
- Verifiable experience preparing NEPA documentation and managing large portfolios of NEPA-related projects.
