General Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated Project Architect with experience in building rehabilitation, roofing systems, exterior wall restoration, and building envelope consulting. 
The Project Architect will be responsible for managing projects from initial assessment through construction completion. Responsibilities include building condition evaluations, development of repair strategies, preparation of construction documents, consultant coordination, and construction phase services.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of building enclosure systems and a passion for extending the service life of existing buildings through thoughtful and practical design solutions.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate roofing systems, facades, waterproofing assemblies, windows, and sealant systems.
  • Develop repair and rehabilitation solutions for roof and building enclosure systems.
  • Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, and permitting documents.
  • Produce roof replacement, reroofing, facade and waterproofing designs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and accessibility requirements.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
  • Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Career level, fully competent architectural professional with responsibility for managing detailed phases of projects with moderate size and complexity.
  • Independently performs a variety projects or selected segments of larger projects.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
  • Works closely with senior-level project managers to gain additional project management experience for more complex and larger projects.
  • Make design, engineering/architectural, and construction recommendations, adaptations and modifications.
  • Prepare proposals and reports for small and large projects of varying complexity.
  • Perform quality control review of proposals written by others.
  • Evaluate complex laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
  • Serve as a technical adviser to junior-level project team members.
  • Interacts directly with client and project team on developing scope of services, communicating project progress and findings and recommendations.
  • Write and prepare routine and complex engineering/architectural reports detailing services provided, findings, and recommendations.
  • Participate in marketing, sales and business development.
  • Supervise graduate, field and project architecture staff.
  • Works under the supervision group or department manager.
  • Begin documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent degree (and experience) that can be applied to becoming a Registered Architect.
  • RA license preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in roofing and building enclosure design.
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Register Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), REWC (Registered Exterior Wall Consultant), RBEC (Registered Building Enclosure Consultant), or other industry-recognized certification per assigned duties.
