Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Terracon is seeking an Environmental Technician IV for our growing Asbestos, Lead and Industrial Hygiene (IH) practice in our Winter Park, Florida office. The Environmental Technician IV is responsible for carrying out more in-depth and complex field investigations and writing the associated reports under the direction of senior management and other leadership. Studying for and obtaining job related certifications are required and will be supported by Terracon.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Independently performs non-routine and complex field testing on larger and more diverse projects.
  • Directs lower level technicians on projects.
  • Calibrate field monitoring equipment such as PID or combustible gas indicator.
  • Sample suspect asbestos-containing building materials in accordance with AHERA guidelines.
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Perform oversight and air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects.
  • Perform complex monitoring and well sampling.
  • Performs advanced fieldwork and assists with project management.
  • Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
  • Other national, regional, state, and local environmental related certifications requiring experience and written examination will also be considered if deemed appropriate by the Terracon Department Manager.
Required Certification:
  • Certification in field of expertise required. Examples include:
    • Asbestos inspector
    • Asbestos Project Monitor
    • Asbestos Management Planner
    • Asbestos Project Designer
    • Lead Risk Assessor
    • Lead Project Designer
    • Mold Consultant
