Job Description
General Responsibilities:

Terracon’s Winter Park office is looking for an Environmental Technician to support our asbestos/industrial hygiene practice under our contract with Disney. The successful candidate will conduct asbestos and lead inspections, asbestos and lead abatement oversight, and assist project managers with industrial hygiene assessments. The candidate may further support mold and radon assessments or other environmental projects.

Inspection job duties include bulk sample collection, field documentation, review of laboratory documents, and communication with project managers to facilitate transfer of field data. The candidate will be responsible for asbestos abatement oversight, including contractor interaction, operation of field air monitoring equipment, collection of field documentation, and potentially on-site analysis of air samples by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM). Industrial hygiene job duties include performance of radon surveys, microbial investigations with sampling, other exposure sampling such as silica and lead, and data reporting. Candidate will be required to adhere to strict company health and safety standards.

This position will support third shift operations.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Performing building inspections for asbestos-containing materials in accordance with EPA, State, and Local requirements;
  • Testing of surface coatings for lead paint (via paint chip) in commercial and industrial settings;

  • Performing mold inspections and sampling for suspect microbial growth;

  • Performing standardized and sometimes complex field tests as directed and/or special inspections as required;

  • Performing air monitoring and visual inspections during asbestos abatement projects;

  • Calibration of field monitoring equipment as required;

  • Inspection and sampling within industrial setting;

  • Performing indoor air quality assessments;

  • Maintaining quality standards on all projects;

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • B.S. in Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Science preferred
  • Minimum 0-2 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products
  • Good written communication skills with the ability to type reports
  • Overnight work is mandatory
  • Required inspector certifications in asbestos, lead, radon, and/or mold; or the ability to obtain these certifications
  • Ability to carry and lift items over 20 pounds, work at heights, and climb/carry ladders.
Preferred Certification:
  • Other national, regional, state, and local environmental related certifications requiring experience and written examination will also be considered if deemed appropriate by the Terracon Department Manager.
Required Certification:
  • Certification in field of expertise preferred.
