In this position, you will travel 100% of the time to work on multiple high-profile projects such as transportation, commercial buildings, wind farms, and more in many geographical areas. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys traveling, working on various high-profile projects, and who is looking to take their construction material testing career to the next level.
Perform field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results. Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas. May assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites. Adhere to strict safety standards.
- Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures.
- Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
- Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
- Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM.
- Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.
- Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration.
- Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.
- Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
- Documented on-the-job experience hours for inspection services (via employer verification or personal log)
- Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Qualifications:
Documented classroom training for ASNT Level II in:
- Visual Testing (VT) (or valid CWI/SCWI certification in lieu of VT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Supporting documentation of certification, including:
- Employer-issued certification records with dates and methods, or
- A detailed log of inspection experience and hours
- Candidates meeting these criteria will be required to successfully complete internal ASNT Level II examinations and obtain final certification approval from our Level III.
Other desirable certifications:
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI)
- ASNT Level II certifications in multiple methods (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT)
- NICET Level II (Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical)
- ICC certifications (Structural Steel, Concrete, Masonry, etc.)
- Other relevant materials testing certifications
This position has been categorized as a "Remote Only" position. “Remote Only” employees do not have a designated workspace at an office, and typically work from home or another location.
The national standard salary range for this position is $19.50-$27.50. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Minimum Salary: 19.5
