As a Construction Inspector I, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of our construction projects. Your expertise in welding inspection will be crucial in maintaining our high standards. We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) specializing in structural steel fabrication and erection to join our team. The ideal candidate will be well versed in applicable industry standards, codes, specifications, and quality assurance requirements governing structural steel welding. This individual will possess multiple welding certifications and demonstrate extensive experience performing inspections, audits, and compliance verification for structural steel projects.
The Certified Welding Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that all welding activities meet project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable industry standards while maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, and workmanship.
- Conduct thorough inspections of structural steel welding, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Review and interpret welding procedures and specifications, providing guidance to welding personnel.
- Perform visual, dimensional, and destructive testing as required, following established protocols.
- Document inspection findings accurately and maintain detailed records.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other inspectors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide timely reports and recommendations to clients, highlighting any deviations from standards.
- Stay updated with the latest welding technologies and industry trends, attending relevant training sessions.
- Ensure a safe work environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards during inspections.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control measures for welding processes.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is mandatory.
- Extensive knowledge of structural steel welding codes and standards, such as AWS D1.1.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding inspection, preferably in a construction environment.
- Strong understanding of welding processes, materials, and equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify defects and non-conformances.
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, including ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing devices.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
- A degree or diploma in welding engineering or a related field is preferred.
