General Responsibilities:

· Conduct Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and Limited Site Investigations to determine presence/absence of contamination in soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water, and sediment.

· Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the project. This may include preparing calculations, designs, reports, and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets, and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.

· Conduct groundwater monitoring at permitted sites.

· Log and classify soil following standard practices and methods.

· Conduct geologic field mapping.

· Evaluate and interpret subsurface field and sampling data including soil and groundwater to develop conclusions concerning the environmental and geologic site conditions.

· Generate subsurface maps and cross-sections and collaborate with environmental/engineering staff on projects.

· Prepare written plans and reports related to site investigation and remediation activities.

· Participate in client meetings under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and/or Department Manager.

· Partner with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources for the project.

· Coordinate with Senior Staff to ensure appropriate oversight is in place and sufficient time allowed for reviews of all critical junctures.

· Coordinate with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing, and collections.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

· Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning activities.

· Maintain quality standards on tasks performed and prepared deliverables.

· Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection or assignments.

· Assist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan, and permit projects.

· Conduct water, soil, and other sampling.

· Implement technical requirements to complete client projects by directing field staff to sample, test, and collect data and/or document site activities.

· Outline required investigative program(s) by selecting the proper alternative techniques to conduct site studies in field of expertise.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or similar field. (Master's degree preferred)

· Minimum of 3+ years of related experience.

· Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

· This Staff Geologist position is combination of field work and in-office work.

Preferred Certification/Experience:

· Geologist-in-Training or Professional Geoscientist licensed in Texas, or the ability to obtain within 12 months of onboarding.

· 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.

· Geographic information systems (GIS)

· Microsoft Excel and Word.

· Working knowledge of RCRA, TRRP, and PST regulations in Texas.

· Working knowledge of TCEQ landfills rules such as Subchapter T.

· Documented success with TCEQ reports (such as APARs, RDRs, and ARFs) and closures under TCEQ programs such as the PST, TRRP, IOP, and VCP.
