Terracon is seeking a Building Enclosure Group Manager to lead and expand our building enclosure practice across Northern California and the Western U.S. This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced building enclosure professional who is passionate about developing people, growing client relationships, and delivering high-quality technical consulting services. Supported by Terracon’s national resources and technical network, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our regional building enclosure practice. This position supports clients and projects throughout Northern California and the Western U.S. and included periodic travel for project site visits, client meetings, business development activities, and team support. You will have the opportunity to build and grow a team of building enclosure professionals while helping shape the strategic direction and long-term growth of the practice.
In this role, you will lead client relationships, mentor and develop staff, support business growth, and provide technical leadership on new construction, existing building rehabilitation, forensic investigations, repair design, quality assurance, and field testing. Lead and grow a team of building enclosure professionals while helping shape the strategic direction, service offerings, and long-term growth of the regional practice.
Recruit, hire, mentor, coach, and develop staff to support a growing building enclosure practice. Provide performance management, conduct performance and career development reviews, support, succession and workforce development planning, and foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Provide technical leadership for new construction, existing building rehabilitation, and complex forensic investigations involving roofing, façade, waterproofing, air barrier, and other building enclosure systems.
Work with clients, building owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and project teams to evaluate building enclosure performance issues, determine root causes, develop repair or rehabilitation solutions, and support successful implementation.
Lead or support asset management, rehabilitation design, repair implementation, and development of building enclosure details that meet owner project requirements.
Provide, direct, or oversee building enclosure field testing, including ASTM E1105, ASTM E783, AAMA 501.2, ASTM D4541, ASTM C794, ASTM E779, FM 1-52, and other applicable testing methods.
Perform and/or oversee quality assurance observations for roofing, façade, waterproofing, and related building enclosure systems to support successful project delivery.
Prepare and review professional technical reports that clearly present observations, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations in alignment with Terracon standards and quality program requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Building Enclosures, or a related field is preferred, and 5 years’ practice experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years’ related experience in team management, building enclosure consulting, design review, assessment, investigation, testing, repair design, or related project delivery.
- A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, supervising, or developing technical staff including performance management, performance and career development reviews, employee coaching, and professional development in a consulting, design, construction, or building enclosure environment.
Experience developing client relationships, supporting business development, preparing proposals, defining scopes of service, and developing project fees.
Ability to manage project delivery, including staffing, schedule, budget, financial performance, technical quality, risk management, and client communication.
Strong technical knowledge of roofing, façade, waterproofing, air barrier, fenestration, and other building enclosure systems.
Experience evaluating building enclosure performance issues, supporting forensic investigations, developing repair or rehabilitation recommendations, and communicating findings to clients and project teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and review technical reports, proposals, client correspondence, and presentation materials.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout Northern California and the Western U.S. as needed to support client relationships, project execution, business development efforts, and team leadership responsibilities.
Ability to work at heights and carry equipment up to 60 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure in field of expertise.
- Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status preferred.
Professional registration or certification such as Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC), Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC), Building Enclosure Commissioning Provider (BECxP), or Certified Building Enclosure Commissioning Provider (CBECxP).
Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) certification, ABAA Inspector certification, Certified EIFS Inspector, Certified Thermographer, or similar building enclosure-related credential.
Experience leading building enclosure services for commercial, institutional, multifamily, industrial, or mission-critical projects.
Experience growing a consulting practice, developing client accounts, or expanding services in a local or regional market.
Familiarity with applicable building codes, industry standards, manufacturer requirements, and construction documentation practices related to building enclosure systems.
Maximum Salary: 146,080
Minimum Salary: 94,270

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
