Job Description:
Terracon is seeking to hire a Senior Industrial Hygienist within our Industrial Hygiene (IH) and Hazardous Building Materials (HBM) Group to support our Hartford, CT area office and New England regional operations. We work on exciting projects including commercial, transportation, energy, and federal projects throughout New England and New York state. This position is for an experienced professional who will be responsible for leading the planning, scheduling and execution of various environmental services assignments on projects varying in size and complexity, as well as leveraging their own and the Company’s network of clients to promote local and regional service line growth.

General Responsibilities:
  • Senior level industrial hygiene professional responsible for leading complex projects requiring innovative investigation techniques.
  • Supervise the analysis and formation of recommendations in written reports.
  • Assist in establishing and updating current policies/ procedures for technical projects in field of expertise, to ensure proper interpretation and implementation by subordinate staff.
  • Provide technical direction and training to less experience professional staff.
  • Participate in the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients on projects.
  • Serves as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Project Manager accountable for meeting/exceeding client expectations while the project team delivers on scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company.
  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices.
  • Promote pre-task planning for all projects
  • Responsible for continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
  • Responsible for providing consistent quality standards
  • Periodically and as needed, performs routine and non-routine field testing on a variety of projects.
  • Performs site visits, observations, screenings and surveys
  • Sample suspect asbestos-containing building materials in accordance with AHERA guidelines.
  • Perform oversight and air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Preferred Certification:
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Additional certification in field of expertise including but not limited to
    • CT Asbestos Inspector,Other New England states desired
    • CT Asbestos Project Monitor, Other New England states desired
    • CT Asbestos Management Planner; Lead Risk Assessor


The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
Minimum $99200 - Maximum $153800
