Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Supervise the day-to-day activities of a team of Geotechnical Drillers and Driller Assistants in the performance of subsurface exploration services. Provide guidance and instruction regarding drilling activities and issues that may arise. Will assist in the coordination of maintenance, schedule and training of the drill crews. Provide project management assistance by preparing proposals or cost estimates, determining scope of work, and invoicing. Provide assistance with drilling fleet planning and purchasing. This position will work out of our St Paul or Plymouth office locations.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead and focus on the training and development of 2 or 3 man drill crew in all tasks associated with drilling operations.
- Be proficient in all drilling methods common to their region.
- Knowledge of instrumentation installation and monitoring wells.
- Assist when needed with routine maintenance and repairs.
- Provide oversight and assistance to drilling staff.
- Provide daily monitoring and progress of current and upcoming projects.
- Maintain project schedule status and communicate with Department Managers, Project Managers and Office Managers on resource requirements and project updates.
- May plan, schedule and dispatch staff to project sites based on skill set, certifications, location, project and priority.
- Regularly communicate with clients to provide up to date information in regard to the company’s ability to meet expected project timelines, client needs for projects and project status.
- Monitor drilling to ensure it is completed based on project plans and specifications; provide technical guidance and work direction.
- Lead project preparation and pre-task planning.
- Assist with billing and invoicing.
- Participate in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates to clients.
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of drilling staff.
- Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.
- Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
- May provide assistance with drilling services, as needed.
- Minimum 10-years’ experience.
- Proficient in geotechnical and/or environmental drilling methods.
- Valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card within first 30 days of employment.
- MDH Licensure in field of expertise.
The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
Minimum $71100 - Maximum $110100
