Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Evaluate and interpret subsurface field and sampling data including soil and groundwater to develop conclusions concerning geotechnical and geologic site conditions. Perform subsurface exploration duties using conventional drilling or in-situ testing techniques. Drill methods may include; auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, and diamond bit coring techniques. In-situ testing techniques may include cone penetration testing (CPT), pressure meter testing, and rock dilatometer testing. Work may also include the installation of instrumentation such as temporary piezometers, monitor wells and inclinometers. Layout exploration locations in the field. Characterize soil, bedrock and groundwater elevation and site conditions. May conduct geophysical explorations and pile load testing.


Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
• Entry level geological professional responsible for gathering data and information to be evaluated by other team members.
• Assignments are designed to develop knowledge and abilities.
• Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.
• Assist in drilling operations and instrumentation and monitoring well installation.
• Collect soil and rock samples and log field data.
• Perform basic surveying and site reconnaissance.
• Drive a medium-duty truck and trailer.
• Learn to inspect and how to maintain equipment.
• May have limited client contact pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
• Support consistent quality standards on proposal and project delivery.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certification:

• Certification in field of expertise preferred.

The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
$23.75 - $33.25 per hour
