Job Description
General Responsibilities:
The Safety Fleet Administrator is responsible for the daily oversight and administration of the driving safety program. The position focuses on maintaining safety records, coordinating driver training, conducting audits, managing related systems, and supporting safety initiatives to ensure the safety and compliance of company drivers and fleet vehicles.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct audits of Department of Transportation (FMCSA) compliance programs and processes, including electronic driver logs (ELDs), driver qualification files, and vehicle maintenance requirements. Identify discrepancies, potential violations and assist in implementing corrective actions to close gaps in the FMCSA program.
- Communicate driver performance and compliance to operations and provide coaching to ensure drivers receive feedback to improve compliance.
- Identify areas for improvement to ensure adherence to policies and Department of Transportation (FMCSA) regulations.
- Review roadside inspections, verify inspections are closed per FMCSA regulations, determine root causes and communicate preventive measures.
- Administer GeoTab telematics data system by providing reports, dashboards, and trend data to operations; support operations with technical guidance, training, and administration; take necessary actions (including conducting coaching) to ensure drivers receive feedback to improve compliance.
- Administer the NetraDyne dash cam data system by preparing reports, dashboards, and trend analyses for operations. Support operations with technical guidance, training, and administration. Take necessary actions (including conducting coaching) to ensure drivers receive feedback to improve compliance.
- Administer the Samba MVR monitoring program by providing operations with technical guidance, training, and administration assistance.
- Process safety components of the Terracon Commuter Driver Program.
- Analyze driver safety metrics (leading and lagging indicators) to identify trends and inform data-driven decisions.
- Stay current with fleet safety trends and recommend enhancements to existing safety programs.
- Provide administrative support for other safety-related tasks and projects as needed.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, transportation, or a related field and minimum of 3 years related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 7 years related experience.
- Solid understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
- Proficient with telematics systems for monitoring vehicle locations, driving activity, and driver behavior.
- Experience with installing, maintaining and troubleshooting safety devices, such as ELDs and dashcams.
- Skilled in conducting detailed investigations and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Strong communication, training and Interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with excellent record-keeping and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
- A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
