We are seeking a highly motivated professional to provide collaborative leadership for the Environmental Service Line in the Eastern Operating Group, which is made up of over 60 office locations. As an Assistant Service Line Director, the primary responsibilities are to support and contribute to the vision and provide guidance and leadership to promote safe, profitability and growth in our Environmental Service Line. The successful candidate will drive industry thought leadership; promote strong business metrics and local market engagement; be a servant leader. Site Investigation/Remediation and Environmental Planning are two focused areas of growth, so our preferred candidate will have an extensive background in one of these areas. Knowledge of Due Diligence, EHS, and Building Environmental Sciences is beneficial as well.

This role is ideal for a professional who values collaboration, wants a seat at the table, and is motivated to help local offices build strong teams that deliver results and lead change.
Acting as a strategic partner to the Operations Chief Operating Officer, Sr Vice Presidents, Director Regional Officers and environmental leaders, the Assistant Service Line Director will focus on the following areas:
  • Support and influence practice leaders in the Eastern US offices, ensuring consistent, safe, and high‑quality prosperous environmental growth
  • Advance innovation, including modern investigation methods, data management, digital tools, and remediation technologies
  • Serve as a trusted leader and SME on large portfolios to complex, high‑risk projects
  • Build and grow talent, strengthening succession, leadership development, and professional career paths
  • Expand client relationships and market presence, partnering across sectors and local/national accounts
  • Represent Terracon as a thought leader, through conferences, publications, and industry engagement
  • Execute on our Strategic Plan together, with the purpose of being best at people, leading innovation, and being dominant in our markets.
  • Enhance both the client and associate experience, through high-level advisory service to our clients and the right support and development of our staff
What You Bring
  • A strong safety‑first mindset
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, geoscience, or related field and 15 years’ related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience leading multi‑regional or national environmental practices
  • PE, PG, or equivalent professional registration (multi‑state licensure capability)
  • Maintain general knowledge of a variety of technical areas of practice involved in delivering services within the service line
  • Proven success in building teams, growing market share, and high-level operating efficiencies
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in developing and presenting technical content at conferences, clients, and prospective clients
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and change‑management skills
  • Assist in maintaining the quality of technical work at our high standards across all offices performing work in the service line 
  • Demonstrated experience in project management that achieves successful project outcomes including financial, technical, client and safety objectives.
  • Be responsive to the needs of staff from around the company when questions on technical, contract and client issues are raised
  • Participates in external organizations and strives to hold leadership roles
Preferred: experience with digital transformation, innovation deployment, and leading widescale implementation of initiatives
