Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Analyze, plan, design and oversee implementation and management of the organizations infrastructure systems, network and storage to ensure high levels of data integrity and availability. Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent provisioning and uptime.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Establish infrastructure systems that seamlessly support the business operations of the company, as well as the continued functioning of the Information Technology group.
- Proactively evaluate existing or emerging technologies for applicability to the overall enterprise architecture.
- Proactively identify key issues and limitations of the existing architecture and develop long term target architectures and plans.
- Proactively identify opportunities to standardize enterprise systems, and develop a strategy to implement necessary changes.
- Specialize in the best practice design, operations, and support of enterprise systems; such as Network Architecture, Storage Architecture, or Windows Architecture.
- Develop enterprise system architectures and strategies that include high availability, reliability, and accessibility for the organization.
- Adhere to a version control process which includes the documentation, approval and implementation of system changes.
- Serve as an escalation point for any complex issues that arise during the day to day operations of the company.
- Mentor junior staff members regarding best practices for system design and architecture.
- Assess and communicate the impacts, trade-offs, risks, costs, benefits and opportunities of IT solutions.
- Define the architecture and technology standards for applications and infrastructure across the organization and ensure those standards are published, updated and made available.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for architectural frameworks, methods, design patterns, and tools.
- Document through architectural models or views the current and future needs of the organization and how they will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, adaptable and cost effective manner.
- Lead strategic technological planning to achieve company goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.
- Work with stakeholders, both leadership and subject matter experts, to build and document a holistic view of the organization's strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets.
- Participate in the creation and evolution of a technology roadmap that defines current technical architectures, future architectures, and the transition towards future architectures.
- Serve on architectural governance councils.
- Work independently alongside multiple teams in an advisory capacity.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Maintain quality standards on all projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and 11 years’ experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 15 years’ experience.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science with emphasis on Architecture or MS in Systems Engineering preferred.
- A minimum of 11 years of progressive experience supporting engineering, design and building information technology solutions for the infrastructure.
- Certifications from Cisco or Microsoft.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
