Job Description
We’re seeking a Director of Microsoft 365 to own the strategy, governance, and business value realization of our Modern Work stack—SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, and Microsoft Fabric. This leader will turn collaboration and AI into a measurable competitive advantage by combining strong product management, change leadership, and risk-aware governance. You will be supported in your role with peers in Information Security, Data Governance, AI Services, Operational Excellence, Infrastructure, Training, and Operations.
What you’ll do (responsibilities)
- Strategy & Roadmap: Define and maintain product roadmaps for SharePoint, Teams, Copilot, Power Platform, Graph integrations, and Fabric aligned to key business indicators.
- Governance: Establish and run M365 governance (information architecture, sensitivity labels/DLP, conditional access guardrails, site/team lifecycle, external sharing, app governance).
- AI Enablement: Lead safe, value-focused Copilot adoption—use-case playbooks, prompt patterns, metrics, ethics/guardrails, and model/version governance in partnership with Security & Legal.
- Adoption & Change: Stand up an M365 Center of Excellence; build a champions community; deliver training and communications; remove friction through templates and blueprints.
- Operations: Implement content lifecycle and records practices; standardize provisioning; drive automation with Power Platform; oversee service runbooks and incident playbacks.
- Data & Analytics: Partner with Data Governance to define Fabric workspaces, roles, and reusable data products; ensure self-service BI operates within policy.
- Value Management: Instrument usage and business outcomes; publish executive dashboards; manage a backlog tied to value hypotheses and realized benefits.
- Stakeholder Leadership: Build trusted partnerships across Infrastructure/Security, HR, Legal, and business units; run intake and prioritization forums.
What you’ve done (qualifications)
- 10+ years in modern workplace/productivity platforms with 5+ years leading cross-functional programs or product management.
- Demonstrated leadership in at least two core areas: SharePoint information architecture, Teams governance/adoption, Power Platform Center of Excellence, Copilot/AI enablement, or data/BI (Fabric/Power BI).
- Strong grasp of M365 security/compliance (sensitivity labels, DLP, conditional access), lifecycle/records, and external sharing models.
- Proven track record driving change at scale (training, comms, champions) with telemetry-based decision-making.
- Excellent stakeholder management; clear communicator from executive to maker level.
Nice to have
- Experience building or running an M365 Center of Excellence.
- Exposure to Microsoft Graph connectors/enterprise search and Fabric administration/roles.
- Certifications (e.g., SC-400, MS-700, PL-200/PL-600, DP-500) or equivalent experience.
Success metrics (first 12 months)
- Governance coverage: XX% content labeled; Data Loss Policy implementation/adoption; reduction in over-permissive sharing.
- Adoption & productivity: increases in active usage by workload; reduced time-to-find; automation cycle-time reduction.
- Risk posture: decreased shadow app/OAuth risk; strengthened conditional access posture; improved lifecycle hygiene.
- Value realization: documented use cases with measured time/cost/risk outcomes; retirement of redundant tools.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or technical field such as Engineering or Geology and a minimum of 10 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 14 years’ related experience.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
