Terracon, an employee-owned, nationwide engineering and environmental consulting firm, is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join our Charleston, South Carolina team. What You’ll Do
Based primarily in Charleston, SC, with travel throughout South Carolina and Georgia[KG1]as needed, you’ll contribute to a wide range of environmental and industrial hygiene services, including:
- Asbestos surveys, management planning, and abatement oversight
- Airborne chemical and employee exposure monitoring
- Noise assessments and hearing conservation programs
- Indoor air quality and indoor environmental quality investigations
- Mold assessments and remediation monitoring

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct industrial hygiene sampling under the supervision of a Board Certified Industrial Hygienist
- Perform asbestos-containing material inspections in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Complete air monitoring and visual inspections during asbestos and lead abatement projects
- Collect paint samples in commercial and industrial settings
- Calibrate, maintain, and operate field monitoring equipment
- Adhere to strict health and safety standards, participate in pre-task planning, and report safety concerns
- Maintain high-quality standards across all project work
- Perform physically active fieldwork, including climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs., and standing for extended periods
What We’re Looking For
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in industrial hygiene or related fields
- A strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Willingness to obtain asbestos and lead-related certifications
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- A positive, flexible, and team-oriented mindset
