Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Regional Human Resources plays a crucial role in fostering a positive and compliant workplace environment. HR professionals are responsible for managing employee relations (ER), recruitment, onboarding, and development, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal regulations. Responsible for handling a variety of tasks, including responding to employee inquiries, processing HR transactions, conducting background checks, and maintaining employee documentation. Additionally, Regional Human Resources involves administering HR programs, supporting staffing efforts, and communicating HR concerns to leadership, all while upholding safety guidelines and quality standards. The Regional HR Generalist or Manager will solely support the HR activities of a region and may receive support from a Regional HR Coordinator if the region size or volume dictates.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all regional HR matters for a Terracon region, escalating complex situations to Corporate HR.
  • Responsible for implementing policies, processes, training, and initiatives to support regional HR compliance and strategy needs ensuring effective change management and consistent performance of HR related work.
  • Collaborate with People Team leaders to ensure effective communication to Operations.
  • Manage HR processes, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and employee development, communications, training, culture & wellbeing to ensure consistently excellent regional performance.
  • Drive employee engagement and foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Administer or oversee the administration of regional HR programs, including, but not limited to, recruiting, performance management, employee wellbeing, and training and development as the regional subject matter expert for HR programs.
  • Consult with managers on staffing and recruiting needs, develop hiring and regional recruiting strategies while following best practices.
  • Oversee the region’s new hire onboarding and employee experience while ensuring tasks are completed.
  • Communicate HR related concerns and escalate complex employee relations situations to corporate HR leadership.
  • Ensure and may process employee-related transactions and changes such as new hires and terminations are processed in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) in a timely, accurate manner in compliance with law and company guidelines. Oversee the processing of background checks.
  • May lead and mentor other regional HR staff, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field and a minimum of 8 years’ progressive professional HR experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years’ related experience.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Business acumen or ability to quickly acquire business knowledge.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or PHR, SPHR
