Job Description
General Responsibilities:
We are seeking an environmental Project Geologist to support environmental assessments and cleanup efforts for contaminated sites. This role focuses on conducting detailed site investigations, characterizing subsurface conditions, and developing remediation strategies that ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate environmental risks.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in geology, hydrogeology, and contaminant fate and transport, applying their knowledge to assess soil, groundwater, and surface water impacts. Responsibilities include designing and executing field investigations, interpreting geologic and hydrogeologic data, and overseeing remediation system implementation.
This position requires collaboration with engineers, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure project success while adhering to environmental laws and industry standards. The role is critical in identifying contamination sources, evaluating risk, and implementing effective remediation solutions to support environmental compliance and site closure.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Career level, fully competent Geologist/ Hydrogeologist responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting or coordinating detailed phases of work for part of a major project or total of a project of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Plan and execute comprehensive site investigations, including site characterization and Remedial Investigations.
  • Design and oversee soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and surface water sampling programs to characterize site conditions.
  • Interpret boring logs, stratigraphy, and hydrogeological data to develop conceptual site models and potential exposure pathways.
  • Assess contaminant fate and transport, including groundwater flow and vapor intrusion risks.
  • Prepare reports, such as Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Cleanup Action Plans and other regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Assist in developing remediation strategies and overseeing project implementation.
  • Ability to support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, as needed.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
  • May devise new approaches to problems encountered.
  • May serve as a team leader in medium projects and mentor junior level Geologists.
  • Performs scientific analyses on projects of own discipline.
  • May attend on and off-site client meetings.
  • Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
  • Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.
  • Works under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
  • Begin documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field and a minimum of 7 years’ related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Certification in field of expertise required.
  • Ability to obtain registration as a Licensed Geologist (LG) required.


The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
Minimum $89900 - Maximum $139300
