Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Are you passionate about the environment and want to make a difference? Explore beyond the surface with Terracon. We are looking for an entry-level Environmental Scientist to join our dynamic team! Conduct soil assessments and surveys. Identify and evaluate remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Prepare proposals, reports and regulatory agency correspondence.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining Terracon’s established quality standards on all projects.
  • Entry-level scientific professional responsible for gathering data and performing field inspections.
  • Perform site visits, field observations and field data collection either alone or with a team.
  • Perform testing and sampling of ecological systems in the Midwest including riparian areas and grasslands.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan and permit projects.
  • Prepare concise and accurate written reports using data collected in the field.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with staff and clients regarding specific projects/tasks.
  • Completion of some projects will require travel and working outside of standard office hours and days.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, Biology, Geography, Geology or related natural science field and a minimum 1 years of related field experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.



Preferred Experience:
  • At least 1 year of field experience with wetland delineations, stream assessments, habitat and species assessments.
  • Preparation of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527-21
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Beginner or Intermediate GIS
