Job Description
Facilities Department Manager

Terracon is seeking a senior level engineer with experience in investigation, design and repair of existing building systems in the Lenexa, Kansas area. The position will report to the Lenexa Facilities department management which covers a large region.

The purpose of this position is to grow and diversify our current business by focusing on client development, market penetration and growth in all service lines within the Facilities Practice – specifically engineering diagnostics and building enclosure.

The ideal candidate will have a depth of experience in the investigation and diagnosis; the ability to evaluate the appropriate use of systems and materials; develop and critique details and specifications; and provide technically sound solutions for enclosure repairs and new construction projects. As a technical expert, they will manage or consult on complex projects, providing leadership/expertise to project teams and other service lines. They will drive business with new and existing clients and actively participate in the implementation of marketing strategies. They will be a recognized leader in market specific professional associations

In addition, the candidate will have a proven history of leadership and mentoring within their organization including administration of department or office, directing personnel and operations in accordance with company procedures including safety. A proven history of client development and relationship management in the Dallas market is essential as well as a strong understanding of the business development process.

Skills and experience:
• Specific experience investigation and diagnosis, evaluation of materials, developing design details/specifications with new/existing structures,
Experience in facility condition assessment or property condition assessment would be beneficial
• Experience in project management, business development, proposal management
• Revenue and project P/L
• Chargeability management for staff/department
• Ability to manage project teams and mentor staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Active in professional associations
• Limited Travel is required

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years’ practice experience. Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred:
  • PE preferred
