The primary work of this role will be to perform property conditional assessments of various building types, predominately multitenant retail facilities, small office buildings, warehouses, and medical office buildings. A general knowledge of building systems and general construction types will be required, with a preference for candidates with in-depth experience in a specific area, such a roofing systems, electrical distributions systems, HVAC controls, structural systems, etc.
Candidate should be flexible and willing to assist in other facilities related work, when needed. Any assignment will target the goal of learning about all elements of the construction process and how different systems of a building interact to achieve a desired environment for a specific purpose.
Diagnose and develop repair/restoration solutions for the built environment. This includes all major components and systems of buildings and other infrastructure. Projects range from property condition assessments to detailed evaluations of structural systems, roofs, facades, plaza deck and below grade waterproofing systems, MEP systems, pavements, industrial floors, and construction materials. Assessment techniques include, visual examination, non-destructive testing, instrumentation and load testing, laboratory testing, and destructive examinations. Client deliverables range from reports of findings and recommendations to development of restoration design documents and construction oversight/administration.
- Early career facilities professional; assignments are designed to develop knowledge and abilities.
- Works typically on smaller, routine projects, with increasing complexity as proficiency is demonstrated.
- Assists in performing assessments, inspections and testing.
- Assists with the preparation of, or authors, reports, plans, specifications, calculations, and research.
- Assists and gains exposure to projects of greater complexity and scope.
- Performs and sometimes oversees contract administration for small-to-medium projects.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in building science or related building field and up to 5 years’ experience in facility assessment. Or, in lieu of a degree, 4-9 years’ related experience.
- Preference for candidates with an engineering or architectural degree eligible for EI/PE/AIA registration.
- A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
- Drug screening required.
- Successfully complete the background screening required to work in school district buildings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC) or equivalent certification
