General Responsibilities:

As a Structural Project Engineer, you'll be a key member of our Houston Engineering Diagnostics team, utilizing your expertise in structural engineering to provide diagnostics and innovative solutions. Your role involves client interaction, field work, report preparation, and managing projects. With a focus on construction materials, you'll collaborate with a dynamic team, offering expert advice and contributing to the development of engineering solutions.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive structural engineering diagnostics, identifying potential issues and providing detailed reports.
  • Offer expert guidance and innovative solutions for construction material-related challenges, ensuring project success.
  • Collaborate closely with the project team, fostering a cohesive environment for timely and accurate engineering service delivery.
  • Maintain effective client communication, translating complex engineering concepts into clear and concise explanations.
  • Stay abreast of industry advancements and trends in structural engineering, incorporating new knowledge into project work.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of forward-thinking engineering solutions, driving innovation within the team.
  • Ensure strict adherence to relevant codes, regulations, and standards, maintaining the highest level of structural integrity.
  • Provide mentorship and support to less experienced engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Engage in business development activities, building and nurturing client relationships to enhance Terracon's reputation.
Requirements:
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Texas (PE) is a mandatory requirement.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related field is essential.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in structural engineering diagnostics is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction materials and their properties is crucial for this role.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong analytical mindset are key qualifications.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering software, such as RISA 3D, is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for client interaction and team collaboration.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously is highly valued.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with industry advancements is expected.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented mindset, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.

As a member of our team, you’ll join licensed architects and engineers delivering services for new construction and existing facilities including building enclosure consulting and testing, facility asset management, due diligence, ADA and accessibility consulting, facility condition assessments, and more. Be it one parking lot or a 100-building portfolio, we create sustainable options for our clients’ buildings, assess and extend service life where applicable, increase performance, and help them maximize the value of their capital expenditures.
