Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Terracon's Harrisburg office is looking for a talented addition to our Environmental Department! We are looking for a Project Manager for asbestos, lead based paint, and industrial hygiene projects. The selected candidate will propose and manage all aspects of initial hazardous building material inspections, and industrial hygiene inspections to ensure they are safely completed on time and within scope and budget, and also subsequent asbestos and lead abatement observations and clearance sampling. In this position the Project Manager will be responsible for completing the project as per its contracted scope; monitor progress and performance against the project plan; troubleshoot and recommend or resolve operational problems; and minimize delays. The Project Manager may also be responsible for resource management, project scheduling, budgets and forecasts, and working with external vendors, subcontractors, or contractors. In this position, the Project Manager will conduct meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project to the project team, client, and possibly regulatory agencies. As a Project Manager, you will set priorities, assign tasks, coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones, and communicate with the client and deliver work products to their satisfaction.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in/ lead pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail in all aspects of work and proposal preparation assignments.
- Strong technical background in asbestos, lead, and industrial hygiene surveys and abatement planning/oversight.
- Ability to learn and apply health and safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
- Manage all aspects of a small to medium sized project from proposal preparation through invoicing.
- Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the project. This may include preparing calculations, designs, reports and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
- Partner with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources for the project.
- Take action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
- Conduct meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of projects including investigative results, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinates project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
- Coordinate with accounting staff for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing, and collections. Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company, coworkers, and clients. Be familiar with company risk policies.
- Responsible for continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related science field and a minimum of 7 years’ related experience.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
Pennsylvania Asbestos Inspector Certification
Pennsylvania Lead Inspector or Risk Assessor Certification
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
