Terracon is seeking an Acoustics / Noise Consultant to join our growing U.S. environmental noise and acoustics practice. This mid-level role is ideal for a skilled professional who enjoys technical project work and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. In this role, you would collaborate with scientists and engineers supporting clients in renewable energy, power generation, data centers, oil and gas, site development and planning, transportation, industrial, and federal markets.
The Terracon Acoustics team provides support throughout project development, from conceptual design to post-construction evaluations, offering planning, design, noise monitoring, modeling, permitting, public outreach, expert witness support, and post-construction studies.
The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality acoustics and noise consulting services to public and private sector clients.
Support and manage acoustics and noise projects from proposal through completion, delivering projects on schedule and within scope and budget.
Conduct environmental noise studies, sound level monitoring, modeling, and impact assessments.
Apply and interpret federal, state, and local noise regulations and guidance.
Prepare technical reports, permit support documentation, and client-facing presentations.
Support business development through client engagement, proposal development, and technical marketing.
Contribute technical expertise and support knowledge sharing across project teams.
Collaborate with Terracon environmental, engineering, and construction teams on integrated solutions.
Participate in QA/QC processes and support implementation of best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in environmental acoustics and noise consulting.
Strong working knowledge of acoustical measurement techniques and instrumentation, noise modeling software, and regulatory frameworks.
Experience with SoundPlan, CadnaA, TNM, spreadsheets, GIS, AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.
Experience supporting projects and interacting with clients.
Proficiency in preparing clear, concise technical reports.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work collaboratively on project teams.
Ability to travel occasionally as project needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
Civil Engineering or Acoustics or related discipline.
EIT and desire to work towards PE license, INCE Board Certification, or progress toward certification.
Experience with noise evaluations for data centers, power generation, or airports.
Experience supporting transportation, energy, industrial, land development, or infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with NEPA, environmental permitting, and public process support.
Exposure to client interaction and proposal support activities is a plus.
