Assistant Geologist

- Assist with geotechnical, environmental, and materials field investigations.
- Observe and document subsurface conditions during drilling and sampling activities.
- Collect soil, rock, groundwater, and other environmental samples in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform field measurements, testing, and site observations.
- Maintain accurate field notes, logs, photographs, and documentation.
- Assist with setup, operation, and maintenance of field equipment.
- Follow company safety procedures and participate in daily safety briefings.
- Enter and organize field and laboratory data into company databases and spreadsheets.
- Review data for completeness and accuracy.
- Assist with preparation of boring logs, field reports, tables, and figures.
- Maintain project files and electronic records.
- Support project managers and geologists with administrative and technical tasks as needed.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- Frequent travel to project sites throughout the region.
- Overnight travel required based on project needs.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings and extended workdays.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, walk over uneven terrain, and active construction sites.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods during field activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field.
- A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
- Travel and overnight stays are required for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with GPS equipment, field instrumentation, or sampling procedures.
- Familiarity with geological logging and data management software.
