Terracon is seeking and a Staff Industrial Hygienist to join our team. This position would be part of a very skilled team that performs airborne exposure monitoring, contaminated site air monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality surveys, asbestos and lead based paint surveys, safety audits, and other activities. Job Description:
This position will be based in Concord, California and provide support for projects primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area and as well as northern California.
As a Staff Industrial Hygienist under supervision, you will conduct field observations, area monitoring, exposure assessments, indoor air quality assessments, and assist project managers with industrial hygiene inspections. Perform field studies including airborne chemical monitoring, particulates, noise, indoor air quality. Investigate for the presence of moisture and mold impacted building materials. Implement sampling strategies and outline required analysis. Evaluate sampling results and laboratory reports. Prepare assessment reports and develop recommendations associated with findings and worker exposures.
Essential Role and Responsibilities:
- Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. Candidate will be required to adhere to strict company health and safety standards.
- Proficient industrial hygiene professional responsible for conducting site testing and making recommendations for investigation design on smaller projects of moderate complexity.
- Work with the Project Manager to understand site issues and project concerns at the earliest stage in the project.
- Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection consistent with the established project scope.
- Perform field collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, figures, drawings, and evaluate, plan, and implement field tasks.
- Calibrate, clean, and maintain field monitoring equipment, such as direct-read sampling and air monitoring devices.
- Assess for risk of mold and biological contamination following water intrusion or waste losses inside buildings.
- Perform indoor air quality assessments, exposure monitoring, noise surveys, and other industrial hygiene assessments.
- Evaluate moderately complex laboratory and field data and assemble written reports.
- Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for approval by senior level professionals.
- May assist more senior industrial hygienists, scientists and engineers on large, more complex projects.
- May oversee work performed by lower-level industrial hygienists, scientists, or technicians.
- Conduct construction related inspections, air monitoring, and visual inspections related to site, building, or manufacturing hazards.
- May serve as team member or participate in meetings and communications with clients pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- Ability to climb ladders, lift/carry equipment (generally up to 50 lbs), stand for long periods of time
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or related science field. Master’s or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Reliable vehicle for local travel (mileage is reimbursed).
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, able to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.
The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
Minimum $78400 - Maximum $109700
