Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Investigate sites to identify any physical or environmental risks. Lead and perform field studies including asbestos and lead paint surveys, airborne chemical monitoring, noise monitoring, and indoor air quality. Develop sampling strategies and outline required analysis. Research regulatory standards and hazard data. Evaluate sampling results. Prepare risk assessment reports and develop recommendations to correct and improve the environment. Present and communicate findings and report recommendations to clients. Additional responsibilities may include general support of project team including Phase I preliminary site assessments, Phase II site assessments, environmental drilling to support multi-media sampling: soil, groundwater, drinking water, radon, etc.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Integrate quality leadership practices into daily regimen.
- Provide consistent quality standards on proposal and project delivery.
- Mid-level, experienced industrial hygiene professional responsible for conducting site testing and making recommendations for systems design on medium sized projects with a variety of complex features.
- May assist more senior industrial hygienists, scientists and engineers on large, more complex projects.
- Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.
- Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
- Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.
- Evaluates complex laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.
- May serve as team member or lead in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
- May oversee work performed by lower level industrial hygienists, scientists, technicians, or engineers.
- Works under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science or related science field.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Air Monitoring Specialist.
- Certified Lead Inspector.
- Project Designer.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate (with an up-to-date 8-hour annual refresher course certification).
- Current AHERA accreditation as an asbestos inspector and air monitor with preference given to applicants with current CDPHE licenses.
- Knowledge of state (SCDHEC, NCDEQ, GA EPD, TDEQ) and Federal regulations (NESHAP, etc.).
