Terracon is seeking quality individuals to assist with solar test pile installation on utility scale solar projects throughout the greater Midwest. This position requires an independent equipment operator who is self reliant, flexible, and enjoys and independent work environment. This role requires extensive inter state travel with a schedule rotation.
On the job training is provided for all new hires. Candidates with some equipment operating experience not related to pile driving are still highly desirable and specific equipment training is provided.
Terracon runs late model equipment with a maintenance program tailored for our crews. The test piles are primarily installed with a custom built machine and support skid steer. Work is conducted throughout the central US focused in the upper Midwest.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ability to lead a two person crew. Must be able to lead, teach, and communicate effectively as a member of the field crew.
- Be able to competently drive a commercial truck and trailer.
- Load steel piles, operate off road equipment, mini excavator, skid steer, side by side UTV, and tool/supplies onto trucks and trailers.
- Maintain operational integrity of equipment by performing pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports with an emphasis on digital tools for reporting. Take prompt actions to facilitate any repairs needed to safely operate the equipment.
- Physically active role with unrestricted range of motion necessary to perform daily activities.
- Be responsible for maintaining Terracon quality standards of professionalism and safety on all projects.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Report and safety issues or concerns to management.
- Requires ability to forecast performance schedule a few days in advance based on project specific details.
- Effective in written and verbal English communications.
- Perform navigation of test pile locations via handheld GPS tools or apps.
- Ability to utilize cell phone apps such as GPS tracking, map reading, and basic Microsoft Office tools.
- Report required maintenance to supervisor and perform maintenance tasks as required.
- On the job training provided for qualified equipment operators without experience on solar pile drivers.
- A class "A" CDL is required with a current valid medical card. A record of CDL driving experience preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of equipment operator experience or the equivalent in training and related industry experience.
- Extensive travel schedule based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. Relocation may not be necessary in some circumstances.
