Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Terracon is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Equipment Operator I to join our team. This position involves assisting with test pile installations on large-scale solar projects across the Eastern United States. As a self-reliant, flexible, and independent operator, you will be part of an employee-owned team, working with late-model equipment and benefiting from our tailored maintenance program. This role offers the opportunity to enhance your skills through on-the-job training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work as a two-person crew and independently on various projects.
- Communicate effectively with the field crew and project management through written and verbal English.
- Operate and maintain commercial trucks and trailers safely and competently.
- Provide daily progress reports to multiple offices.
- Follow all safety guidelines, rules, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use cell phone apps for GPS tracking, map reading, and basic Microsoft Office tools.
- Report and perform necessary maintenance tasks for equipment.
- Participate in on-the-job training for PD-10 pile drivers.
- Preferred: A Class “A” CDL and a proven record of CDL driving experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an equipment operator or equivalent training and experience in a related field.
- Ability to travel extensively, primarily based out of Little Rock, Arkansas.
- Must be physically fit and able to perform manual tasks with unrestricted motion.
- Completion of Terracon Mobile Equipment Operator Competency training after hire.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Ability to obtain certification or licensure in field of expertise. For example, Excavator Certification, Bulldozer Certification, Front End Loader and Backhoe Certification
- Experience with skid steers, excavators, or backhoes is encouraged.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and teach within the field crew.
- For Remediation Construction projects, 40-Hour HAZWOPER certificate, TWIC and DOT medical card preferred.
