Job Description
Grow your engineering career in the Quad Cities
Join a collaborative engineering team supporting impactful projects while enjoying the lifestyle advantages of Bettendorf and the Quad Cities—a strong regional economy, riverfront amenities, reasonable commutes, and access to both Iowa and Illinois markets. This role is ideal for an early‑career engineer looking to gain broad, hands‑on experience while building a long‑term career in eastern Iowa.
Position Overview
We are seeking a developing engineering professional to provide engineering and consulting services on a wide variety of projects and clients. This role offers hands‑on experience across field investigations, design support, and construction observation while working closely with experienced Professional Engineers who are invested in your growth.
Projects may support clients in public works, transportation, commercial development, communications, energy, and industrial sectors, providing exposure to the infrastructure and development initiatives that shape the Quad Cities region and beyond.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with and participate in field investigations, observations, inspections, and testing using both field and laboratory methods.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and analyses and support design recommendations.
- Review drawings and construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Help prepare technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates.
- Track project progress and budgets, and communicate findings clearly to project teams.
- Work alongside engineering technicians and field crews, preparing daily field reports.
- An early‑career or developing engineer eager to learn and grow under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
- Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Interest in gaining exposure to a wide range of project types rather than being siloed.
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments.
- Shorter commutes and a lower cost of living than major metro areas.
- A stable regional economy supported by transportation, manufacturing, utilities, and public infrastructure.
- Access to riverfront trails, parks, and outdoor recreation along the Mississippi River.
- A community that offers both professional opportunity and a high quality of life.
- Central access to projects throughout eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
- Meaningful, hands‑on project experience early in your career
- Mentorship from experienced Professional Engineers
- Exposure to diverse markets and project types
- A supportive team environment that values safety, quality, and professional development
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) designation
