Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Provide engineering and consulting services focused on pavement materials, design, and construction quality for automotive proving grounds and motorsport tracks. This role is both intellectually rigorous and physically demanding. Combining detailed analysis with hands-on field leadership, it is uniquely rewarding because your decisions translate directly into world-class track ride quality, safety, and performance. You will manage assigned projects from planning through execution, provide practical on-site technical guidance, and deliver clear, concise, client-ready documentation. Services are primarily within the automotive and motorsport track industries, with occasional work in transportation, public works, commercial, and/or industrial sectors. Frequent travel (domestic and international) is expected; field assignments commonly run 1–2+ weeks at a time and may include early mornings, long days, and evening analysis/reporting.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Maintain and promote quality standards and practices on all projects, including continuous quality monitoring and improvement.
  • Manage assigned projects from planning through completion, balancing detailed engineering analysis with on-site construction quality leadership.
  • Provide engineering and consulting services for clients in the automotive proving ground and motorsport track industries, ensuring expectations are aligned and outcomes exceed client needs.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, coordinate, and/or supervise detailed phases of project work; support fast-moving schedules where precision matters.
  • Perform and/or lead field investigations and construction observation/inspection, including asphalt paving operations, plant/field troubleshooting, and documentation of field conditions.
  • Develop track-focused pavement design and materials recommendations that account for performance requirements such as smoothness, texture, durability, and safety.
  • Prepare and/or review plans, specifications, and technical requirements; review drawings and construction to ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Analyze laboratory and field data, perform engineering calculations, and evaluate results for inclusion in reports, recommendations, and construction decisions.
  • Oversee or coordinate QC/QA activities (without directing means-and-methods), including compaction control, sampling/testing oversight, and evaluation of smoothness/evenness data (e.g., straightedge, profiling, texture testing).
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and project-related documents; track progress, budgets, and recommend changes as needed.
  • Communicate complex engineering issues clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including owners, designers, contractors, and internal project teams.
  • Serve as a technical resource to junior team members; assign, review, and evaluate work products and data as appropriate.
  • Maintain thorough field documentation habits (daily reporting, photo documentation, and clear follow-up actions) and produce timely technical memos and formal reports.
  • Work closely with senior-level managers and clients to develop scopes, communicate progress, and deliver findings and recommendations.
  • Support business development and client relationships through high-quality delivery, responsiveness, and professional presentation of results.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays and multi-week assignments at domestic and international project sites; comfortable with unconventional schedules tied to construction operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Master’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (domestic and international), including multi-week field assignments.
  • Strong experience with pavement construction and QC/QA (asphalt paving preferred) and ability to translate field conditions into actionable recommendations.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; ability to produce concise, client-ready deliverables.
  • This position is based in the Austin, TX office.
