Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Actively search for new business opportunities for engineering consulting department, office or division. Develop and foster long-term client relationships. Utilize contacts in appropriate professional organizations to network with potential clients and develop intelligence regarding the firm’s competition. Use networking contacts to develop leads and provide new projects from past, existing and future clients. Prepare marketing materials including qualification packages, written proposals and other client submittals.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership in the areas of client development for a Division, Operating Group or Business Sector.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the Division or Operating Group client development and marketing plans.
- Partners with Division Managers, Sector Directors and Operating Group Managers to increase sales effectiveness and efficiencies.
- In conjunction with corporate client development and marketing senior managers, develops and implements training and best practices for the client development specialists and managers across the company.
- Directs the activities and monitors the results of subordinate direct reports.
- Promote the advancement of client development across the company.
- Directs the efforts of the largest projects and client pursuits including strategy and facilitation.
- Attend professional organization, government and technical meetings/events as a representative of Terracon and coordinate/participate in these meetings and events on a regular basis.
- As directed by senior management, analyzes results of quarterly client survey results. May also design and conduct additional research studies among clients or prospective clients regarding attitudes and needs with respect to technical services and identifies areas of client satisfaction and dissatisfaction.
- Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.
- Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
- Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices. Engage APRs in projects at their onset.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related degree and 15 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years related experience.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
- Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM).
