Terracon-Dallas is seeking a growth-minded individual for the position of Asbestos Technician II in our rapidly growing Environmental Department. This position offers a professional growth opportunity in one of the busiest markets in the nation’s #1-ranked asbestos design firm.

This position will play a key role in our fast-paced asbestos, lead and indoor air quality practice. Asbestos Technicians report directly to the Asbestos Group Manager and the Environmental Department Manager – Asbestos, Lead & IH Services. Asbestos Technicians are responsible for providing air monitoring and project oversight on asbestos project management on asbestos abatement projects and assist with asbestos inspections other sampling/monitoring projects.

General Responsibilities:
Perform asbestos abatement air monitoring and project management.
Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including, but not limited to, air, building materials, and noise.
Operate field monitoring equipment.
Perform small-scale asbestos surveys; assist with large-scale or complex asbestos, lead paint and mold surveys and other sampling/monitoring projects.
Transport material samples or documents to the lab for further testing and analysis.
Tabulate and prepare data and project logs for written reports.
Clean and maintains field monitoring equipment.
Adhere to strict QA/QC standards.
Adhere to strict safety standards.


Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Performs standardized and sometimes complex field tests as directed and/or special inspections as required following well-defined procedures.
  • Calibrate and operate field monitoring equipment such as high- and low-volume air sampling pumps.
  • Perform asbestos surveys and other sampling/monitoring projects in accordance with AHERA, TDSHS and OSHA guidelines.
  • Perform oversight and air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects in accordance with AHERA, TDSHS and OSHA guidelines.
  • Assist with lead paint surveys conducted in accordance with HUD, TDSHS and OSHA guidelines.
  • Assist higher-level Technicians, Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers on complex tasks.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Texas Department of State Health Services Air Monitoring Technician License
  • Texas Department of State Health Services Project Manager License
  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
  • Certification in field of expertise preferred; examples include:
    • Asbestos Inspector
    • Lead Inspector
    • Mold Assessment Technician
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
  • This position requires the employee to work flexible hours and occasional weekends. Occasional overnight travel and out-of-town mobilization of up to 3 weeks may also be required.
  • The employee must be able to lift-and-carry for short distances up to 50 pounds and assist in team lift-and-carry for short distances up to 100 pounds.
  • This position requires the employee to work in humid, hot and cold conditions as well as work at heights and in close spaces.
  • This position requires frequent ladder use, including the use of 24' extension ladders.
  • This position requires manual dexterity with both hands and ability to operate a microscope using both eyes.
