Job Description
Terracon is seeking an Environmental Regulatory Compliance Scientist to join our Team in St. Louis, Missouri! This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join a rapidly growing practice and work on local, regional, and national compliance projects across the country. Our Regulatory Compliance Team is looking for the right person to join and grow with us.
The individual should have working knowledge and be familiar with general requirements in one or more of the service areas listed below:
• Air Permitting (Title V and minor source)
• Industrial Wastewater
• Oil Storage/SPCC Plans
• RCRA/Hazardous Waste
• Regulatory Compliance Auditing
• SARA Title III (Tier II/TRI) Reporting
• Solid Waste/Permitting
• Storm Water/SWPPP/Construction SWPPP

To be successful in this role you will possess a strong technical background with compliance skills and experience. You will manage regulatory compliance projects from initial proposal to final invoice, prepare permit applications, prepare regulatory compliance plans and documents, perform regulatory compliance assessments/ evaluations, and prepare written reports for clients. You will work with Terracon’s internal databases to develop client relationships, prepare cost proposals, track/monitor work and invoice/close out projects. You will serve on a regional regulatory compliance team providing support as needed for local, regional, and national projects.


Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
• Support Terracon’s Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workplace culture
• Grow environmental regulatory compliance services within the Region
• Prepare calculations, applications, plans, reports, proposals, and other deliverables
• Manage projects to ensure quality and timeliness
• Understand local and regional environmental markets
• Develop strong working relationships with clients
• Develop compliance and cost proposals in response to client requests
• Participate in the development of local and regional marketing strategies
• Evaluate environmental problems and develop practical solutions that enable our clients to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field
• 3-5+ years related experience in a full-time regulatory compliance consulting role
• Demonstrated high level of technical writing ability
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
• Ability to travel for work commitments and conferences, to include overnight stays, as needed


Preferred Qualifications
• 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-Hr refresher
• Master’s degree
