Job Description
General Responsibilities:

Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of environmental projects and clients. This may include performing and/or leading environmental site investigations, engineering analysis, calculations and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Identify, evaluate and recommend risk and remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Prepare applicable permit applications, risk assessments and technical documents including proposals, reports and regulatory agency correspondence. Design systems and environmental protection plans. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services may include Phase I environmental site assessments (ESAs), Phase II ESAs, tank closure assessments, some regulatory compliance/permitting, and risk based evaluation. Familiarity MoRBCA and TACO and experience with federal brownfields and the Missouri BVCP and LUST programs as well as Illinois LUST and SRP programs preferred.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- Career level, fully competent environmental engineering professional.
- Independently performs a variety projects or selected segments of larger projects.
- Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work.
- Works closely with senior-level project managers to gain additional project management experience for more complex and larger projects.
- May devise new approaches to problems encountered.
- May serve as a team leader in medium projects and mentor junior level scientists/engineers.
- Performs complex scientific analyses on projects of own discipline.
- May attend on and off-site client meetings.
- Implements technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
- Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review of proposals written by others.
- Evaluates complex laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.
- Works under the supervision of an Authorized Project Reviewer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology or related degree.
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience.
- Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or Registered Geologist (RG) registration
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
