Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Lead tasks and/or manage projects for the Natural Resources team to ensure that work is executed on time and in accordance with the client’s requirements and within company policies, procedures and standards. Supervise, lead or assist with the preparation of proposals and cost estimates to clients to ensure proper scoping of services, plan the availability of manpower and pricing to achieve desired profitability. Assist with the daily operations including staff training, development, and performance review, utilization of equipment and facilities, safety oversight, quality of services and work product, timely delivery of services and deliverables, and adherence to policies and procedure. Participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities and build and maintain client relationships.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparation of natural resources proposals and cost estimates.
- Responsible for managing and leading local Natural Resources projects/tasks.
- With support from the Department/Office manager perform business and client development activities for growing the Natural Resources team.
- Assist with development of employee staffing plans, recruitment, selection and on-boarding.
- Assist with the success of the key group metrics of revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
- Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.
- Assist with leading safety efforts and ensuring project teams follow safety rules and guidelines.
- Responsible for modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices.
- Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) professional service related to: National Environmental Policy Act documentation, Clean Water Act Section 404 (& 401 WQC) permitting, Threatened or Endangered Species assessments, or natural resources mitigation-restoration planning.
- Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices. Engage Authorized Project Reviewers (APRs) on projects at their onset.
- Potentially serve as an APR
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including Environmental Science or related degree and 9 years’ practice experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years’ related experience.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Experience delineating wetlands and permitting in Missouri.
- Experience with listed species habitat assessments, surveys, and permitting.
