Job Description

We have created a new and exciting role at Terracon. We are looking for a National Manager of Sustainability Services to lead, sell and direct sustainability project opportunities across Terracon’s service lines and sectors. This role is a key part of Terracon’s growth strategy to expand our sustainability, resiliency, restoration, and climate change service offerings to our clients. You will join and lead a knowledgeable, multi-disciplined team that is growing our capabilities in sustainability and resiliency service offerings. You will step in to lead some existing project relationships and you will win and deliver new clients. You will also be working closely with our director of corporate sustainability, service line directors, and sector leaders to enhance our sustainability services offerings, develop internal processes and tools, coach and upskill team members, and lead delivery of sustainability projects and corporate sustainability initiatives.

* THIS POSITION CAN BE REMOTE OR HYBRID AND FILLED NEAR ANY OF OUR 175 PLUS OFFICE LOCATIONS ACROSS THE US.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement growth strategies with the Sustainability Services team.

  • Oversee Terracon’s Sustainability Services Practice Resource Group.

  • Lead client development and growth strategies for carbon, waste, water, and energy solutions. Serve as an internal and external SME on various sustainability topics:

  • Sustainability/ESG reporting

  • Circular economy

  • Science-based targets

  • Certifications

  • Materiality assessments

  • Data collection/analysis/management

  • Carbon reporting and lifecycle assessments

  • Must be highly motivated, a self-starter, and drive results.

  • Lead internal and external messaging on Sustainability Services.

  • Lead and collaborate with operations on large sustainability opportunities and projects.

  • Assist in sustainability staff recruiting and mentoring of project staff.

  • Partner with the director of corporate sustainability and others to develop and communicate corporate sustainability actions.

  • Maintain flexibility in a continuously changing and fast-paced environment.

  • Translate highly technical information so that non-technical decision makers can understand risks and opportunities related to sustainability projects and Terracon’s offering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, environmental law, planning or related technical field. Master's Degree preferred.

  • 10+ years' experience in sustainability or environmental regulatory compliance consulting, strategy, reporting, project design and implementation in a leadership position.

  • Broad understanding of current sustainability topics including decarbonization, climate resilience, zero waste planning, circular economy, ESG / climate reporting, and emerging technologies.

  • Stay current on applicable environmental laws and regulations to effectively manage the overall program and recommend strategic approaches to difficult decisions.

  • Experience with sustainability frameworks and standards, including GHG Protocol, UN SDGs, IFRS/SASB, GRI, and others.

  • Highly collaborative and willing and able to work with many stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employee-owners, clients, and community leaders.

  • Growth mindset with 5+ years' of demonstrated success in business development and proposal development.

  • Professional registration in your field of expertise such as P.E., P.G., CSP, etc. or sustainability-related accreditation such as ENV SP, LEED AP, WELL AP, GRI-Reporting, etc. are a plus.

  • Expected travel for this position may be up to 25% of time.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.


This position has been categorized as a "Remote Only" position. “Remote Only” employees do not have a designated workspace at an office, and typically work from home or another location.

The national standard salary range for this position is $126,300 - $195,800. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
