General Responsibilities:
Terracon is comprised of four (4) Service Lines and nine (9) geographic Divisions. Our Facilities Service Line (FAC) provides consulting services in the building science, technology, real estate, and management space. Terracon’s Facilities professionals are trusted advisors to building owners, developers, contractors, financial institutions, and architects. Services are centered around eight (8) practice areas; Building Enclosure, Facility Asset Management, Due-Diligence, Accessibility, Structural, Mechanical/Energy, Construction Risk, and Construction Management.
The Gulf Coast Division includes Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana. FAC services are currently provided in our Atlanta and Nashville offices. The position is based in Atlanta and will be responsible for helping to lead and grow this office.
Terracon is seeking a dynamic leader to manage, grow and be a technical resource for the Gulf Coast Division’s FAC operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong entrepreneurial skills, and have industry connections in Atlanta and the region, A/E/C business acumen, technical background/experience in roofing, building envelope testing and construction, and the ability to collaborate with corporate teams, and mentor and grow a diverse team of FAC professionals.
Manage, grow and be a technical resource for regional teams of operations’ employees responsible for the execution of FAC services in various practice areas for the Gulf Coast Division. Provide direction and lead efforts to maintain Terracon’s quality and safety processes, standardization policies, practices, and procedures among employees. Monitor the performance of teams and employees, and facilitate training, site visits, quality audits and safety incident investigations. Participate and coordinate marketing activities and recruitment of new team members in coordination with corporate services and the FAC Service Line Develop and implement an annual growth strategy and budgets and manage financial and resource operations to attain profitability and maximize team efficiencies. Manage keep projects/clients to ensure consistence excellence in project performance and delivery.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Execute the initiatives of a segment of the business operating within local offices.
- Oversee and ensure consistent operations and practices of regional teams by providing training, inspections, mentoring, technical guidance and monitoring/balancing workload.
- Monitor the performance of regional teams through site visits, safety incident investigation, quality audits and metrics.
- Provide leadership and direction on practices and workforce/equipment utilization to local management.
- Partner with other Department Managers to develop and deliver coordinated and consistent services across the division.
- Monitor safety, quality, and production of regional teams and employees, and provide recommendations for improvement to Gulf Coast Division/FAC Service Line Management.
- Assist and guide local offices with marketing activities related to the business segment including pricing and planning.
- Lead recruitment, interview, and selection process for regional team members in coordination with Gulf Coast Division/FAC Service Line Management
- Manage risk related to projects. Ensure contracts are signed and fully executed prior to commencing work. Monitor adherence to corporate risk policies and practices. Hold Managers accountable for mitigating or eliminating risk.
- Communicate safety initiatives, rules and guidelines. Holds Managers and Employees accountable for following safety rules and guidelines.
- Promote and manage continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Ensure best practices are being followed and hold Employees accountable for quality control standards.
- Bachelors or Master’s degree Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related degree with a focus on building science and technology (Construction and/or Design).
- Minimum of 15 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 20 years’ related experience.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Architecture or Engineering registration in Georgia preferred.
- Industry certifications such RRO/RRC, RWC/REWC, REWO, RBEC, CBECxP, LEED, CASP, etc. are a plus.
- Professional involvement with AIA, ASHRAE, BEC, ABAA, IIBEC, USGBC, etc. are a plus.
