Job Description
Terracon is looking for a Transportation National Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to help continue to lead and grow our transportation business. We are looking for someone with either a geotechnical, environmental, or even construction materials consulting background for this opportunity. In this role, you will work closely with the client and our operations office on the execution of the management of large-scale, transportation programs. You will also support technical projects and pursuits.

This position can be filled in any Terracon location.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Support the vision to promote profitability and growth of the Transportation/Infrastructure Business Sector consistent with the overall strategic plans of the company.
  • Manage new client development and grow sales for existing transportation clients including diversification of services provided.
  • Promote sharing of “best practices” between offices, divisions, and operating groups and direct and manage the development of practice standards for work to be performed in the sector.
  • Develop and deliver client presentations as part of relationship development and business development activities and/or qualifications and proposal presentation/interview teams.
  • Provide input into the overall strategy for the business sector and execute the goals.
  • Be active/visible in national trade associations related to the Transportation Business Sector and our clients/potential clients.
  • Direct the efforts of the largest project client pursuits including proposal strategy, facilitation of client interaction, positioning Terracon to win and close the sale.
  • Develops key competencies in Terracon’s business intelligence tools in order to assist leaders and managers and others in strategic decision making (markets, sectors, go/no-go, etc.) that enhance efficiencies
  • Oversee the Company commitment to quality control standards. Establish quality objectives and policy. Monitor continuous improvement programs. Hold internal stakeholders accountable for quality standards and improving levels of quality on projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology or Business and 15 years related experience.
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Strong business development and client management experience and skills
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and knowledge of the Logistics Business Sector clients and projects.
  • Experience in working with State Department of Transportation is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in building and growing targeted business sub-sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in project management that achieves successful project outcomes including financial, technical, client and safety objectives.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history. Must be willing to travel extensively (domestically) to work with local Terracon operations and logistics owners, A/E and Contractors as necessary to land projects.
