An exciting opportunity is now available at Terracon! We are searching for an experienced and proven leader to join our senior leadership team in the role of Senior Vice President and National Director of Client and Business Development. Terracon has a staff of over 5500 employees in 150 offices and revenues approaching $1 billion generated through providing excellent client service and experience at the local and national levels. Our service offerings include geotechnical, environmental, facilities, and construction materials engineering, testing, and consulting services. We have a diverse client base in the public and private sectors and provide services in a diverse group of business sectors including commercial building and retail, transportation and infrastructure, power and transmission, technology and telecom, logistics, healthcare, financial, and federal and local government.

In this role, you will collaborate with Terracon’s Executive Leadership in developing and executing our strategy around client and business development at the national level. You will also work with our geographic business development staff based in our operations to link our company strategy and goals with local client and business development operational goals.

You will have leadership and management responsibility for the directors and client development team that make up our national account program and our strategic business sectors. This will include developing goals and performance metrics for your team and their areas of responsibility.

We are flexible on the home base for the position, but periodic overnight travel is to our corporate headquarters in Kansas City, as well as travel associated with managing a geographically diverse team, working with operations, and client meetings is required.

Business and Client Skills/Abilities
  • Experience in building and managing client and business development sales organization that can drive growth and profitability.
  • Experience and ability in developing marketing strategies, client development, proposal writing, and client interviews and presentations.
  • Experience and understanding in project delivery and improving the client experience.
  • Effective communication skills for multiple audiences required (i.e., internal and external), includes writing and verbal skills and the ability to develop and provide presentations.
  • Ability to lead and manage a group of senior-level staff in multiple geographic locations in support of the company and business development objectives.
  • Ability to collaborate and work across a large geographically diverse business structure
Technical Skills/Abilities
  • Have a broad knowledge of client and business development in the professional engineering, science, and consulting services Terracon provides.
  • Understanding of a variety of market sectors serviced by the company and ability to analyze market data and current and future business trends for growth opportunities.
  • Experience in developing and overseeing annual business plans with clear accountable goals.
  • Responsive to the needs of staff from around the company when questions on areas of responsibility arise.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree with at least 15 years of relevant experience in client and business development and building and leading teams in doing so in engineering and consulting services or similar professional services.
  • MBA is beneficial.
  • Experience in strategy development and execution.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle driving record
  • This position has been categorized as a "Remote Only" position. “Remote Only” employees do not have a designated workspace at an office, and typically work from home or another location.

    The national standard salary range for this position is $174,900-$271,100. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
