This Staff or Sr. Staff Engineer or Geologist will primarily provide engineering seismology and geotechnical earthquake engineering and consulting services for a broad array of local and national projects and clients. In this capacity, the engineer/geologist will apply sound engineering principles and learn to communicate complex geologic and engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Experience will be gained in all aspects of seismic hazards with an emphasis on seismic hazard analyses, site response analyses, and evaluation of liquefaction triggering, consequences and mitigation. Services may be provided for projects in the public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and/or industrial sectors.
This Engineer/Geologist may also provide more typical geotechnical engineering and consulting services for projects and clients in the Puget Sound basin and eastern Washington. This may include performing field investigations, engineering analyses, calculations, construction observations, and preparation of related reports for the services provided. Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
- Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology
- Graduate level coursework in:
- Seismic hazard analysis
- Site response analysis
- Dynamic behavior of soils
- Soil liquefaction
- Soil mechanics
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
- Foundation design and analysis
- Numerical analysis
