Are you passionate about the environment? Terracon is growing and we are looking for an Environmental Department Manager for our Manchester, NH office.

Our office works on exciting projects including environmental site assessment, remediation, redevelopment, asbestos, and site renovation work for City and County agencies, school districts, commercial real property developers and managers, law firms, financial institutions, architect/engineer and construction (A/E/C) clients. This position is for an environmental professional who will lead a department responsible for people management, P&L, project execution, and client development. In this position the candidate must have strong management skills as well as be able to identify, evaluate and recommend risk and remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Management experience is a must as the candidate will lead the department by utilizing a formal growth plan, promoting training, and assigning and coordinating staff workload.

Essential Role and Responsibilities:
  • Conducting client development activities and work with our team to develop a book of business in traditional environmental services for the local region
  • Provide excellent client partnership
  • Work proactively within our National Client Account Program for successful, timely, project delivery
  • Provide environmental support to multiple services lines including industrial hygiene, geotechnical services, construction and building materials, and facilities
  • Work as a team member and participate with business development staff, senior environmental staff, and management on large, complex projects and pursuits
  • Possess strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Possess skills to become an Approved Project Reviewer (APR) in one of more environmental/technical areas
  • Understand and implement technical requirements to complete client projects by directing and supervising field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities
  • Ability to make recommendations for conceptual designs based on technical data
  • Ability to develop written proposals to clients for both small and large projects
  • Experienced in evaluating, and synthesizing complex laboratory and field data, and assembly in written reports
  • Serve as an inter-disciplinary team member in meetings and communications with client pertaining to specific projects/tasks
  • Perform site visits, field observations and field data collection with ability to collect detailed site observations and notes
  • Mentor, supervise, and oversee staff environmental scientists and technicians
  • Demonstrate a commitment to follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects for incident and injury free operations
  • Lead and participate in Pre-Task planning
  • Report any safety issues or concerns to management
  • Understand and follow project quality and corporate quality standards for all projects
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology
  • 15+ years’ practice experience
  • Previous supervisory experience required, and previous managerial experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
  • Professional registration as a Licensed Site Professional (LSP) in MA and/or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist preferred
