Job Description
General Responsibilities:
The principal function of this position is to perform technical and manual work in the daily operation and maintenance of waste water treatment plant and associated groundwater recovery well network located in Muncie, Indiana. The treatment plant services a network of groundwater recovery wells at an ongoing, long-term, environmental remediation site. It is preferred that the applicant have a background in chemistry or is willing pursue additional education in chemistry. Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • Helps to operate and maintain the on-site waste water treatment plant under the supervision and guidance of senior on-site staff.
  • Evaluates laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports
  • Maintains and monitors on-site network of recovery wells and regularly services and cleans groundwater pumps and conveyance lines.
  • Collects water, soil, and waste samples including groundwater samples via low flow methodologies.
  • Performs routine laboratory tests in in-house laboratory.
  • Maintains regular communication with other on-site personnel and with other project staff from different offices.
  • May oversee work performed by contractors and/or lower level scientists/engineers.
  • A mechanical aptitude and ability to independently troubleshoot and problem solve is preferred. Applicant will have to get their hands dirty sometimes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science or related science field or working toward such a degree.
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training is preferred. If applicant has not already completed this training, they will need to begin the training immediately upon start of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
