Job Description
As a Project Facilities Professional with Terracon you will be responsible for performing Property Condition Assessments (PCA) and Facilities Condition Assessments (FCA) for a range of property types including retail, commercial offices, warehouses, industrial, and institutional facilities; preparing PCA and FCA reports; and preparing cost estimates based on observed conditions and expected useful life analysis. The candidate should demonstrate a working knowledge of major property systems including site improvements, roofing, facades, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety. The candidate is expected to be proficient in evaluating the condition of the components and overall systems, articulate the condition of the systems in a narrative style report, and provide recommendations for repair and associated ROM repair costs.
You will also be responsible to assist with reviewing construction documents, field observation on active construction sites, construction cost evaluations, and assisting in the preparation of proposals and formal reports.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Accurately communicate field observation via a written reports within the guidelines, templates, and standard of practice established by Terracon.
- Manage Client relationships from proposal development to report delivery.
- Track financial and schedule metrics to deliver assigned projects on fee budget and on agreed schedules.
- Utilize Terracon best practices in all aspects of the project life cycle.
- Use prescribed methods, perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment.
- May work in the local Terracon office, field, or home office as arranged by Department Manager.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data from reports, maps, drawings, and aerial photos.
- Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
- Perform assignments with other Terracon offices or field studies and duties that may be assigned by senior level professional staff or the Department Manager.
- Outlines the required investigative program(s) by selecting the proper alternative techniques to conduct site assessment in his/her field of expertise.
- Available to travel to projects throughout the United States.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Complete Terracon’s safety orientation program
- Abide by safety and personal protective equipment policies per Terracon’s safety initiatives
- Demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors
- Drive defensively, avoid preventable accidents, and follow Terracon’s safe driving initiatives
- Attend regularly scheduled safety training
- Report all unsafe conditions to your Supervisor
Other Duties:
Will perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to prepare reports using Microsoft Office.
Education/Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related field and 5-7 years’ related experience in PCAs and FCAs Or in lieu of a degree, 9-11 years’ related experience.
A working knowledge of technical software and computers related to the discipline, or equivalent.
Practical experience in the building sciences, construction, and a broad understanding of basic building materials and methods is preferred.
License/Registration:
Valid driver’s license (unless arrangements have been made with approval of Division Manager and Corporate).
