Job Description

The Terracon office in Little Rock AR is currently seeking an engineer to oversee our robust landfill practice. This is a strong, consistent client base that is continuing to grow. We need someone to help us continue delivering quality project to our client.

General Responsibilities:
In this role you will be responsible for all phases of landfill work – from design, permitting, maintenance, phasing, creating the annual engineering reports, to operation and management. You will work closely with the CAD team drawing the designs for new landfills; help the client bid out the construction to subcontractors, and help make the final decision on who wins the work.
Prepare applicable permit applications, risk assessments and technical documents including proposals, reports and regulatory agency correspondence. Design systems and environmental protection plans. Services will include oversight, production and completion of projects pertaining to solid waste, site/civil development, and landfill permitting and design.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provide solid waste disposal facility planning, designs, permits and construction projects for new cell construction and closures. Preparing construction plans and specifications and assisting clients with the bidding, contractor selection and construction process.
  • Specify soils and geosynthetics systems, materials, properties and functions.
  • Interpret applicable geotechnical and geosynthetics laboratory results and perform slope stability and other complex calculations for waste disposal facilities.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, design erosion control systems, grading plans, and supervise CADD earthwork cut and fill calculations.
  • Participate in the development of marketing strategies and presentations of qualifications to clients on projects.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • Proficient engineering professional responsible for managing and executing small projects of minimal complexity.
  • Work closely with senior-level project manager and Professional Engineer of Record to gain project management and engineering experience.
  • Makes design recommendations, adaptations and modifications for review and consideration by the Professional Engineer of Record.
  • Interacts with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress.
  • Works under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or related Engineering program.
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) required.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
